We almost forgot to tell you a funny from a couple of days ago:
Daddy called Mommy home from work as usual and Caroline... answered the phone? as I waited for Mommy to pickup the handset it was then when I realized she had picked it up herself, and pressed the Talk button as she customary does pretending to have a conversation with her imaginary friend.
Caroline recognized Daddy's voice and it was cute listening to her in-depth chatter for a couple of minutes, until she was done with me and threw the phone down. With the line busy, I had to call Mommy on her cell to find out 'WHAT was going on?' and she laughed; she did hear it ring once but thought Caroline was just playing with it. We both had a good laugh seeing how she is learning our every move very quickly.
Her new pastime is to terrorize Solly, our house cat; about 3 to 4 weeks ago she had developed fear towards him and would scream or cry if they crossed paths thru Sofa Alley, but quickly discovered that throwing her collection of balls at him made him retreat back into the garage for the day. At first Daddy gave her thumbs up since it would minimize the in house hairball occurrences, but had to put his Parent head back on and nod with a straight face "Caroline No!, we don't throw things at cats, nor your baby sister!...". Yes, Isabella was her secondary target if you heard the resonance sound of a cat flip door.
Do you have a favorite TV show you want to watch? don't come to our house because our little remote control Warden keeps her eyes on it: she'll hand it over to you saying "Bah-Bah”, meaning: " DVR the blue screen and play Barney"... wait 25 minutes and quickly leap for the remote again when you hear "...I Love You, You Love me..." song, and DVR the next show in the sequence or she'll wine you down until you move any of your extremities.
Her vocabulary is expanding as fast as her behavior. Some of her favorite words are: "es Mama", "es DaDa", "es Rice!", "es hot!", "isa Cra (Isabella is crying)", "es ball", "es gua gua (water)", "es nana", "es yoohoo-hoo", "oh!", and of course "Paci!"
Isabella's late pastime is screaming and puts up a daily fight with Mommy when she tries to put her down for naps (Caroline is following in this trend). Is she having another growth spurt? does she not want to miss out on playing staring at her older Sissy all day? and if you leave her periphery of view, she screams until somebody reappears; we are still working with this insecurity stage.
‘Agú’ is still waking up once or twice a night for feeding; she had her first baby cold and is still sniffing so we let her sleep on a pillow with her head up high so she sleeps better than mommy and daddy who only close one eye keeping a watch over her from turning. Yup, flips are common… On our last Doctors appointment, Mommy laid her down on her back on the weight table and she assumed it was time to flip, and got weighed face down. She is almost outgrown her bath tubby but cannot graduate to the big tub yet until she is able to sit up unassisted; she sits upright with some help, but we think she'll be sitting up soon, before her six months birthday!
And to close our day, Caroline has learned to bring her hands together and ask for "Bendicion"; it’s the way we teach children in Venezuela how to ask for a Parent or Elder’s Blessings; we respond "Dios te Bendiga” (God Bless You).
