Closer... closer... must reach squeeky thing... almost there, got it!...
This week Isabella is reaching out for her toys and sitting back upright; if your sit her on your lap and let her grab your fingers, she'll lift herself up on her feet with a proud grin. She can also lay on her tummy and do push ups holding her head up. Are these early signs of crawling already? she forgot how to flip back on her back when laying down and gets so mad, but this girl is getting strong!
At six months old, she is finally beginning to sleep thru the night, waking up at about 4-5; that's a full night sleep and we'll take it! she may wake up a couple of times shortly after been laid to bed, but noticed when she wakes up crying, she figured out to pick up her paci if she sees it and soothes herself back to sleep. Swaddles, are a thing of her past...
We are wondering if Babies R Us has baby spittoons on sale this weekend? this baby drools milliliters an hour and gets several onesie changes a day. Teething has begun so she welcomes anything chewy, teethers, her fingers, your fingers... The next time you notice napkins missing wherever you go, we were there and grabbed a whole wad of them for this leaking baby!
Mommy got jealous this week when she started yelling "DaDaDaDaDaDa..." for the first time (video is coming soon), but dismissed it as pure phonetics... daddy living in his own little world opts to believe she was missing him and calling out for him! :)
Her weekly menu included squash, which tasted better the second time around, as so did the carrots; and continues to love sweet potatoes. We were so worried she would only eat yummy fruits, but the veggies are going down as fast as the National Reserves; she hates it when you wipe her mouth because she thinks dinner is over;"I want MORE!" she screams.
"Cool !" is Caroline's favorite word, with her famous mouth pucker
This girl talks more than Fox News Megyn Kelly on Ritalin; this week her vocabulary expanded to:
"where's Ca?" (where is Caroline)
"there she is!"
"what's the matter baby? here is your paci" (to Isabella crying)
"es frog"
"fff-foo" (dog)
"es flow" (flower)
"es bow"
"that's right!" she doesn't wait for mommy to say it right back anymore...
"es mon" (es limón, lemmon in spanish)
"es pillow"
"Wo!" (when she drops something or falls...)
"es All-mO" (Elmo from Sesame Street)
Every night before tubby time we empty her toy grocery cart and she learned to recognize her produce in spanish: broccoli, maíz, melón, uva, mostaza, fresas, pimienta, tomate, and her two favorite ones are "món" lemon, and "PaPa" potato, not to be confused with Dada, PawPaw, or YooHoo-Hoo...
Missy Caroline graduated to a booster chair and loves sitting in it at dinner time, or any time she sees mommy working on her laptop at the big girl's table:
She surrendered her high chair to her sissy, but still climbs on it with Isabella strapped in, just to test mommy and daddy if they are watching her, ugh... we love drawing at the big table and play recognition shapes on paper; she didn't recognize daddy's version of Barney; maybe used the wrong color? hmmm...
At two years and two weeks, we are finally beginning to eat protein! Caroline now likes chicken with a side of BBQ sauce or Ranch dressing. Turkey, ham and even some strands of pork chops, just as long as they are pared with BBQ. We still eat grownups toothpaste at tubby time, must taste better than the berries flavor?... and we love daddy's Cranberry juice, and can hold a grownup glass with one hand; thank Ggod for carpet steamers:
Phobia for stuffed animals is an ongoing condition, she is still scared of her large stuffed Mini Mouse; last weekend we were at the Buy Buy Baby store and when mommy showed her a Monkey leash backpack, she ran to the back of the aisle and began screaming in terror; we ran back there only to find she had run into a whole school of the same Monkeys staring at her lined up on the display shelfs!... bad mommy and daddy couldn't contain the giggles and that made her even more hysterical. For those of you planing Christmas gifts, cross out scary Monkey's off your list.
School time! Caroline was introduced for the first time to her Teachers and Schoolmates this past thursday, where she will be attending pre-school once a week from 9A to 3P. Her class consists 3 boys and 3 girls all the same age. She didn't seem to mind and sat with her girlfriends reading while the boys ran around the room. We'll have more on her school development next week, stay tuned for the surprises we cannot even begin to imagine! :)
